The Concordian Student Newspaper is a non-profit, student-run independent newspaper founded in 1983 which serves the Concordia university campus and surrounding community. We produce our print, online, video, and radio platforms to report on student-led groups, social justice, environmental issues, Concordia sports, women in sports, 2SLGBTQIA+, BIPOC, music, housing, human rights, arts & culture, heritage, and mental health. The Concordian Student Newspaper centers around building trust with our student body through our fair and ethical reporting on issues that affect them the most such as housing for new students, tuition hikes, and educational rights. As students reporting for students, we value what our university community needs and deserves to know as well as offering them the space to share their voices in their own way.
SEIZE educates, incubates, and organizes in support of the social solidarity economy. SEIZE incubates organizations and advances campaigns that are leading a transition to a new economy—supporting organizers, activists and entrepreneurs build a strong foundation that encourages economic democracy, solidarity, and cooperation. In 2021, SEIZE successfully campaigned to institutionalize itself within Concordia University and receive operational funding through the university’s fee-levy system, capturing students’ interest in a more sustainable economy through programs like SEIZE’s "Fundamentals of Solidarity Economy" curriculum and the Social Economy Mentorship Internship (SEMI) Program. With 321 user members, 16 support member organizations, and 6 worker members, SEIZE is able to effectively organize through its direct grassroots connections and strong member network.
SNAP Family Center / Centre Famille SNAP offers a variety of services to enhance the lives of English-speaking children (ages 0-18) who are experiencing socio-emotional and/or behavior problems by offering individual and group support to the children and their parents. The Center also supports English-speaking families by offering counseling, referral services and parental support groups. The centre supports English-speaking professionals through skill developmental programming presently not within the regular curriculum, educational strategies and community services.
